BotswanaPost, in collaboration with the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA), officially handed over the Mokgenene Post Office site to the appointed contractor on Friday, January 30th 2026, marking the commencement of the construction process.

The development of the Mokgenene Post Office forms part of BotswanaPost’s commitment to fulfilling its universal service obligation by providing communities with access to premium postal services. These include Postal, Logistics, Financial, Agency services, and Communications.

Botswana Communication Regulatory Authority-BOCRA, through the Universal Access and Service Fund (UASF/Fund), provided financial support towards the development of the Post Office in line with its mandate to facilitate universal access to safe, reliable, efficient, and affordable communications services throughout Botswana.

The project further supports BotswanaPost’s strategic objective of creating and preserving property value through the construction of new post offices and refurbishment of existing facilities nationwide. Upon completion, the Mokgenene Post Office will improve access, convenience, and service efficiency for the local community, while enhancing customer and staff experiences.

The initiative underscores the continued collaboration between BotswanaPost and BOCRA in advancing infrastructure development and expanding access to essential postal and communication services across the country.
